Tesco launches 1 big major change in stores nationwide

Eagle-eyes shoppers may have already noticed a new aisle in the Tesco supermarket that is here to stay. Today, Tesco has launched the UK’s first-ever permanent menopause-friendly fixture to serve its menopausal customers. The permanent menopause fixture will be rolled out across 93 of Tesco’s large stores in light of customer research.

GenM – the menopause partner for brands and retailers – found that 94% of survery respondents want to shop for menopause-friendly products yet 66% can’t find what they’re looking for. Now on the dedicated menopause fixture in Tesco supermarkets, there will be MTick-certified products that are designed to help relieve symptoms of the menopause.

Symptoms during the menopause can include hot flushes, muscle aches and pains, and difficulty sleeping, the NHS certifies.

But many women may be unaware of the 48 symptoms associated with menopause, which is why the Tesco menopause fixture will feature an informative QR code.

The GenM QR code will take customers to a website that reveals the 48 symptoms of menopause.

Commenting on the initiative is Tom Lye, Tesco’s category director for health and wellness.

Tom Lye said Tesco are “delighted” to work with GenM to “support customers and colleagues going through the menopause”.

The permanent menopause fixture comes after a successful trial period was rolled out in February.

Tom Lye added: “We hope that having these permanent menopause-friendly bays in 93 of our large stores will provide reassurance and education.”

The addition is said to help “signpost customers to products that may be safer when going through the menopause or that might ease associated symptoms”.

Heather Jackson, co-founder and CEO of GenM, said this is a “real milestone” for the millions of women who are in the menopause right now.

“What’s particularly exciting about the launch is that Tesco will stock a broad range of products across several different categories, from nutrition, haircare and skincare to sexual wellness and digestive health,” she added.

Anybody unsure if they are experiencing the menopause are recommended to document their symptoms and speak to their GP.
