When you’re short of time in the evening and do not have much in, an omelette can be a great mealtime option. With its solid egg base, you can add pretty much whatever you want, within reason, to make it tasty. But one ingredient is guaranteed to kick it, it has been said, as one person suggested one recipe even feels like “gourmet fine dining”. It does involve one thing that is a bit of an acquired taste, however – blue cheese.
On the recipe site Food.com, a woman named Marg wrote: “I was in the mood for something really quick and easy but flavorful, and this is what I came up with. I hope you other blue cheese lovers like it too!” One person replied: “This easy-fix and flavorful omelette felt like gourmet fine dining with a comfort kick. I doubled the recipe for two of us to make one large omelette and then halved it to serve with toast and cottage fries.”
They added: “Rich with the taste of bacon and blue cheese, it was a definite dear husband pleaser when I served breakfast for dinner like I did so many times in Dallas for myself. Thanks for sharing this.”
A different account said: “Great gourmet twist on a regular omelette! It was loved by everyone at the breakfast table! Thanks, Marg!”
“A woman called Vera added: “Fabulous. I cooked the bacon first in the microwave, crumbled it up and then made the omelette. I just loved the bacon and blue cheese flavour combinations. Yummy!”
The Baker Upstairs has also discovered the recipe. They wrote some years ago: “This bacon bleu cheese omelette is my favorite omelette to date.
“It is incredibly flavorful due to a combination of gorgonzola and crispy bacon, and I love all the savory flavors and fun textures. It is pretty much just omelette perfection!”
Besides bacon, others have recommended other accompanying elements to the cheese, such as tomatoes and even pears and cranberries.
The staple and easy dish can be cooked up using a seemingly endless combination of delicious tid bits.
