A New Jersey couple were arrested after allegedly shining a laser pointer at highway drivers in Manchester, Conn., investigators said.
The Connecticut State Police said a 911 caller Monday evening reported a green laser was being pointed at drivers on Interstate 84 from another car.
A witness described the car as a black Toyota Prius and updated dispatchers about its location. Troopers stopped the car in Hartford, roughly 10 miles west of Manchester.
The occupants of the car were identified as 25-year-old Manuel Dominguez-Liz, of Camden, N.J., who was driving and allegedly had a laser pointer in his lap while speaking to troopers, and 38-year-old Mabel Parrot of East Brunswick, N.J. Both told troopers they were “just having fun” shining the light on signs, authorities said..
They were charged with illegal use of a laser pointer, breach of peace, and reckless endangerment. Dominguez-Liz received an additional charge of interfering with an officer.
