Mother’s Day is just a matter of days away (falling on March 30 this year). If you’re anything like me, you’ll already have the gift for the mother figure in your life sorted. But, as is the case for many of my friends, the days have slipped by, and suddenly, March 30 is staring us in the face. But fear not! Flowers are typically a fail-safe for the occasion, whether you’re looking for a traditional bouquet or something more unique to match your mum’s personality. And you can order them online now to ensure they arrive on time.
Of course, you can always pop to the shops and buy a bunch of flowers or order one from your local florist, but if you live far from your mum, aren’t able to see her on the day, or, indeed, have left it until the last minute, online flower delivery services can save the day. The plethora of online flower delivery services available also makes it easier to find the right bouquet for your recipient, combining expertly curated bouquets and pristine packaging. And to top it off, they’ll be delivered straight to your mum’s doorstep.
You can even get special letterbox-size bouquets that arrive speedily through the door and don’t require someone to be present to receive the delivery – which also makes it easier if you’re gifting to someone you won’t see on the day.
But, when it comes to ordering flowers online, prices can vary. And if you’re hunting for a bountiful and eye-catching bloom, the cost can rise. That’s why I’ve been searching through some of the most popular online flower delivery services to pick my favourite bouquets for Mother’s Day that are £50 or less.
1. Moonpig
If I’ve left it too late to post a birthday card or need to send a birthday present long-distance, Moonpig has been a bit of a saviour to me in recent years. As well as cards for all occasions and letterbox gifts (spanning everything from wine and chocolate to mugs and party games), Moonpig also offers Moonpig flowers – delivering both letterbox flowers and pre-arrange bouquets across the country.
Sure, it’s not as cheap as popping to the supermarket and picking up a card or some flowers, but you pay a little extra for the convenience.
You can order flowers alongside a personalised card, making it a popular choice for ordering everything you need all in one place. There’s a wide variety of flowers on offer, including special bouquets and gift sets (who doesn’t love a bunch of flowers accompanied by some chocolate or some cocktail cans?) designed especially for the occasion. There are also potted plants if you want a gift that will last for years.
One of the handy things about the Moonpig website is that you can filter by price point, including gifts for £10 or less (these include books, socks and candles).
Mother’s Day cards, gifts and flowers can be ordered ahead of time and scheduled for delivery on the day. Bouquets from the Mother’s Day collection are available for delivery from March 23, and, in case you do end up leaving things until the last second, the final cut-off for Mother’s Day delivery is March 29, 2025 (just make sure you order before 9pm if you want to ensure next day delivery). Realistically though, it is going to be a busy time for flower delivery services, so to guarantee delivery on time, it’s best to order as soon as possible.
2. Marks and Spencer Flowers
Marks and Spencer is another of my go-to places for flower and plant delivery, mainly because of its reliability. I trust their clothes, food, furniture and the quality of their flowers and plants (in my experience) are the same. What sets M&S apart from other flower delivery services is that there is no postage fee for flowers and gifts. This includes nominated day delivery, which can be selected as soon as the day after ordering.
Some flowers do have to be ordered ahead of time, but you can see on the M&S website exactly when you can order for delivery if the next day isn’t available. If you’re in a hurry, there is a dedicated section where M&S organises all of the bouquets and gift packages available to arrive by the next day.
The delivery service also offers the option of choosing flower bundles, which come with wine and chocolates. You can even add a personalised message so your recipient knows exactly who the gift is from.
The final order date for Mother’s Day delivery is the day before, although you’ll only be able to choose select bouquets. It’s better to get your order in early and select your ideal delivery date to ensure no mums are left disappointed when March 30 rolls around.
3. Bloom and Wild
Bloom and Wild has become a popular destination for bouquets and letterbox flowers in recent years. Though they do have a luxury bouquet offering, there are some flower arrangements that are affordable for those on a budget. Some of the cheapest Mother’s Day flowers we’ve found on the website start from £19.
The delivery service is a go-to for our Head of Affiliates, Sally Newall, who particularly likes the letterbox flowers on offer. She explained: “I’ve been using Bloom and Wild for years – and have been gifted plenty of flowers from the brand by loved ones. In my experience, blooms arrive on time and in good condition. I particularly like receiving the letterbox options as I prefer to arrange my own stems, as does my mum, but if yours likes the impact of a ready-tied bouquet, then I’ve always found there are plenty of lovely ones to choose from.”
According to Bloom & Wild, every stem is picked fresh, and flowers are packed before blooming, so the minute you open the box, you get the flowers just as they start to bloom. If you want to gift flowers that last for years, Bloom and Wild has a dedicated section for dried, hand-tied flowers.
There’s also the option to add a little extra to your order – including vases and champagne – though these tend to be priced higher than bouquets alone. If you are on a budget, the good
Royal Mail offers free next-day delivery between Monday and Saturday if you place your order before 10pm. So, if you’re shopping for Mother’s Day, you’d ideally need to place your order by Friday to ensure it arrives.
4. Serenata Flowers
Serenata Flowers’ website offers a wide array of flower arrangements, from pre-arranged bouquets to letterbox blooms you can organise yourself. If you want something different, there are also plants and gift hampers.
But if you’re on a budget, letterbox flowers are a good option—and they can be popped straight through your loved one’s door, so they don’t even need to be home to receive the package. They offer free next-day delivery in the UK from Monday to Sunday, and there are a host of Mother’s Day bouquets available to pre-order that will be available from March 28, 2025.
There’s even a selection of flowers available for same-day delivery signposted on the website. However, you must place your order by 2.00pm Monday to Friday and by 12pm on Saturdays for guaranteed delivery. And it does come at a cost. Same-day delivery starts from £4.99, while premium guaranteed delivery can cost up to £9.99.
5. Prestige Flowers
Prestige Flowers has up to 50% off select Mother’s Day bouquets, and there is the option to add a card, chocolates, a vase or a small gift to your delivery. Alternatively, you can add a message card, or if you really want to add some personality to your flower delivery, you can record a video or voice message, which is sent to the recipient in the form of a QR code attached to the bouquet. Upon delivery of the bouquet, the recipient scans the QR code to reveal the special video or voice message.
There is a range of bouquet sizes available, with some of the cheapest starting from £19.99. Alternatively, Prestige Flowers also offers Mother’s Day plants.
Select arrangements offer next-day delivery and a dedicated section of the website shows which bouquets can arrive within the next 24 hours. If you opt for next-day delivery, you must order before 10pm. Mother’s Day bouquets can be ordered now and scheduled for nominated day delivery.
To be sure your Mother’s Day flowers arrive on time, you’ll be best ordering by Friday, March 28.
6. Bunches
Bunches offer a range of flower delivery options, including bouquets, hand-tied flowers, house plants, and hampers. Mother’s Day flowers are available from £22. Plus, 10% of profits are donated to charitable causes in the UK and abroad. All flowers come with the option of adding a card to the delivery, in which you can add a personal message to your recipient.
Mother’s Day Flowers are available to order now, and the company recommends ordering at least by the week before to ensure stocks last, and your delivery arrives on time.
Flowers can be sent via Royal Mail tracked 24 for £3.99 on working days, or they can be delivered by courier for £8.49.
7. Morrisons Flower Delivery
You’ll have seen Morrisons Market Street flowers in-store at supermarkets nationwide, but did you know you can order them online, too? Flowers are available to order independently or as part of your weekly online shop.
In celebration of Mother’s Day, Morrisons has released specially selected bouquets for the occasion, along with its usual fare of favourites. Even the special bouquets are fairly affordable, with the most expensive costing £30. Some of Morrison’s cheapest bouquets start from under £5, so there is a price point for everyone.
However, as Morrisons flower delivery is part of their usual online delivery service, you’ll need to book a slot as you would with your shopping. This is probably best if you want them ordered to your home and then you plan on giving them to your mum.
The Mother’s Day bouquets will be available to order online from March 27.
How does online flower delivery work?
Generally, flowers delivered by couriers are assembled in bunches at a warehouse or florist, then placed into safe packaging and shipped directly to the recipient. Letterbox flowers tend to come in boxes that fit through your door. You can then arrange the flowers at home exactly how you want them.
Some flower delivery services also offer pre-arranged bouquets, which arrive ready to be displayed. Courier typically delivers these types of flowers.
Most florists offer same-day or next-day delivery to ensure that flowers are fresh on arrival, and bouquets normally come with plant food to keep them in fresh condition for five days.
What are the most common flowers given on Mother’s Day?
Mother’s Day is an opportunity to spoil the mum in your life, be that your own mum, grandma, auntie, best friend, sister, or partner. That means it’s most common to choose bouquets that are representative of her. Florists offer bouquets and arrangements in all manner of colours to suit every personality. You can even ditch the flowers and opt for a plant instead.
However, carnations, typically pink or white, are often considered to be one of the most traditional flowers for the occasion because they symbolise love and appreciation. This tradition comes from the first Mother’s Day service in 1908 in the United States, when Anna Jarvis who founded the holiday, distributed carnations.
Carnations have long been associated with Mother’s Day. Anna Jarvis, the holiday’s founder, distributed carnations at the first Mother’s Day service in the United States in 1908.
How do I keep flowers fresh?
With a few simple steps, you can keep your flowers smelling fresh and lasting for days after. Make sure you use a clean vase, and if your flowers come in a pot, be sure to clean them before use so there are no bacteria or chemicals inside.
Trimming a centimetre off the bottom of the stems also helps the flowers absorb water better. It’s also good to keep most flowers away from direct sunlight or heaters, as too much heat will dry the flowers out, so change the water every few days to keep them fresh.
